Parents are extremely important to the success of Altitude FC and even more important to the continued success of your children in all their endeavors. Thank you for all you’re doing for your children. Altitude focuses on soccer to develop leadership, communication, tenacity, and other attributes that your children can apply to all other facets of their lives.
This pages and the related pages are intended to get you more information to help you and your children have fun, learn more about soccer, and stay safe on the field. The US Youth Soccer Parent’s Pocketbook Guide to Soccer is a great place to start.
Why is soccer good for kids
Soccer is a simple game that kids of any age and either gender can play. Physical stature is unimportant, making the game suitable for children of all shapes and sizes. As a result, soccer is a very inclusive sport, and it provides numerous physical and social benefits.
Health and Fitness
Soccer offers a great all-around workout for kids of all ages. Running up and down the field is an excellent aerobic exercise, while the constant change of pace and direction also helps to develop a child’s fitness levels and balance. According to SteadyHealth, playing soccer helps to increase a child’s muscle and bone strength while also promoting flexibility and endurance. Soccer is a great way to combat obesity; time spent kicking a ball around is far more beneficial than time spent in front of the television or computer screen.

Concussion Training for All Coaches – Also Recommended for Parents
DATE: JAN 31, 2012
The Colorado General Assembly approved the “JAKE SNAKENBERG YOUTH CONCUSSION ACT” in 2011 which focuses on recognition and management of concussions. This act requires each coach (volunteer or paid) of a youth athletic activity where players are eleven years of age or older and under nineteen years of age to complete an annual concussion recognition education course. The Act shall take effect January 1, 2012.
Altitude FC has mandated that all of our coaches complete the training before they begin working with their teams. Training participants will be documented by the Club for reference.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has developed a training kit titled “Heads Up, Concussion in Youth Sports.”
The CDC kit provides education for Parents, Players and Coaches on recognition, management and prevention of concussions; all of which are important in management of this type of injury. Information is presented in English and Spanish and can be obtained free-of-charge fromwww.cdc.gov/ConcussionInYouthSports. Each kit also contains a test that reviews materials and tests the Parent’s, Player’s or Coach’s knowledge of concussions.
We strongly encourage all Altitude FC parents to complete this training as well so that you can also recognize the symptoms of a concussion. It is also a good idea to review the information with your child(ren).
