Developmental Team Division (U6-U8)
Birthdates – Aug 1, 2005 to July 31, 2008

Altitude FC Developmental Program aims to provide youth soccer players with high quality coaching focusing on motor, technical, and life skill development in a small-sided games context (3 v 3, 4 v 4, 5 v 5, 6 v 6), within a fun, nurturing environment. Altitude FC Developmental Soccer Program closely follows the vision outlined by United States Youth Soccer as we create an environment that promotes individual player growth and development.

Altitude FC provides opportunities for children of various developmental abilities and soccer levels. The Development Program serves players aged 3-11. All practices and leagues games are in the Evergreen/Mountain area. The current structure has options for the beginning soccer player and also for kids with some experience. A child is assigned to an age group based on the Colorado Youth Soccer assigned birthdate range of Aug 1, Year to July 31, Year. For example, the Aug 1, 2005 to July 31, 2006 age range would be considered U9 for the 2014-2015 season. The player would be classified U7 for the entire year. However, Altitude FC vows to remain flexible with these age ranges to allow children to play soccer and enjoy it with their friends.

The Altitude FC U6-U8 DEVELOPMENTAL TEAM DIVISION is designed to provide an opportunity for young players to now learn the basic technical skills necessary to progress in the game. Successful development of technical skills such as dribbling, turning with ball, first touch on the ball, etc. creates confidence on the field and prepares players for their next level of play. Altitude FC ensures a fun, safe, and professional training environment which fosters enjoyment and a hopefully a life-long love for the game.

At this age the players will continue to use their small #3 size soccer balls (U6) and #4 at U7-U8. They’ll work with a volunteer coach who will be trained by Altitude FC Staff, and guided by the Developmental Director of Coaching. Practice times and location vary by coach. Please be sure to list your preferences when registering. Volunteers needed! Email ED Mark Burfeind

The Developmental Division includes a 1-hour practice session once a week conducted by volunteer coaches. The focus is to associate fun with soccer and exercise. For the first 30-45 minutes of the session, the focus is on the development of technical skills such as dribbling, turning with ball, first touch on the ball, etc. which will help create confidence on the field and prepares players for their next level of play. Players will then be divided into developmentally appropriate groups for 3v3 or 4v4 (when numbers allow) games during the last 30 minutes of the practice session.

The Developmental U6-U7 Team Division will play games on the following Saturdays at Bergen Meadow between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. U8s play at Graham Field at Bergen Valley. Games towards the end of the fall season and beginning of the spring season may be played at Marshdale Turf Fields. See here for the list of fields and directions. Fall games will be on September 7, 14, 21, 28, October 5, 12, & 19. Make-up date will be either during a team’s scheduled practice, in case there is inclement weather.

The 7-week Spring season runs from April-May.

All players for the 2014-2015 season will need to be equipped in the new Altitude Nike jersey appropriate for their age and level. Each player will need his/her own appropriate sized soccer ball (#3 for U6, and #4 for U7 and U8—they will use size #4 until age U13), shin guards, cleats.
